Fun at the Park
Ladybug Release to Highlight the Festivities
This October 14th, 2018, from 1-4 p.m., Sholom Park’s Fun at the Park event will have all the excitement of live music, food trucks, games, education and good family-friendly fun.
In addition, guests of all ages are invited to help release tens of thousands of itsy bitsy colorful ladybugs into the Sholom Park environment, where the harmless – yet mighty – spotted beetles will begin hunting for their dinner.
Ladybugs are considered one of nature’s “beneficial insects” because they love eating aphids, spider mites, mealy bugs and the eggs of some other harmful insects.
Sholom Park’s event will feature additional interactive outdoor stations featuring good guy insects and animals that help us combat bad guy critters in gardens and landscapes every day.
Fun at the Park attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. The event will be held rain or shine. Guests are invited come in a “buggy” costume and bring along an adventurous spirit. No face masks are permitted. All Park rules apply at this event.
Sholom Park’s Fun at the Park events provide family-friendly outdoor entertainment, live music, fun and activities, featuring special themes to make memorable moments for everyone. In February 2017, larger-than-life book characters, such as Curious George, the Berenstain Bears, and Cat in the Hat, visited Park guests and encouraged literacy for all. In February 2018, families took a virtual journey around the world, where they were given mini passports and were encouraged to visit tents and booths where volunteers shared information about China, Australia, Ireland, Great Britain and Egypt, opening doors to many cultures and values.
